I found a DL and am checking it out. Cool stuff. Great bassist, yeah! Still, Nico is the king of Bass from Brazil!!

Never heard him, but if he's anywhere near as good as Thiago, I guess I better check him out.

Man, that whole TRES album is killing. This is maybe a better example of the breadth of Nico's thing.. youtu.be/XIytEzTKTM8

1. Vertu 2. Breckers 3. Electromagnets 4. Neural Code....
But 3 and 4 could be interchangeable. I just have a soft spot for the Breckers, esp. those tunes. Michael Brecker is one of my all-time fave musicians ever.

4. Electromagnets. Objectively a good album, but I just can’t get into it. A little too derivative of other acts like W.R. Eric has skills, but better suited to the blues/rock thing. 3. Vertu. Sounds like an RTF tribute album that is knocked down by a couple of bad tracks 2. Brecker Brothers. Some top notch tunes, but the recording just sounds so small they lose a lot of their impact. 1. Neural Code. The winner by elimination. One of the best examples of hard driving 21st century fusion

Dani's comments are great, and I get his issues with Connors...personally, Double Up is my fave of that Connors as AH clone era. I'd put the Connors at #4, only because of the AH factor, but I do dig it, and also agree that it was "of a certain time"--I got Double Up first, while in college, and a buddy and I listened to that thing on repeat for a long time. His comment was "it would be nice if Allan swung the way Bill does."
I put Martino in the number one spot, because he influenced everyone, and I have a soft spot for that particular album, as it was my intro to Martino.
Sco and Stern are two unique voices. I would have ranked Stern higher, in the past, but these days I will put Sco in the number two spot, with Stern's album in the number 3 spot. Sco is such a unique player--they wa he phrases, and the sense of "surprise" in his melodic movement still kills me. I love Stern, but frankly find him to have fallen into a predictable rut with the development of his solos--I agree that Upside Downside is the highlight of his discography.
I never saw Connors live, but have seen the others, and saw both Stern and Sco many times back in those days....including Stern at 55 back in the daze. My friend (who I mentioned earlier in re the Connors album) took lessons with him and with Leni.
So.... Martino Sco Stern Connors.

I totally understand not being able to get past clonery, particularly for songwriters. For whatever reason, I don't have a problem here, but I have in other instances, so I get it

How would you have them?? Impossible for me to rank these on any sensible basis as I love all four of them.
