This is where fusion (and progressive rock for that matter) start to suffer in net sum output quality, with trends in music at the time playing a large part in that. That both have recovered nicely after the lull is a testament to the artisans freeing themselves from the constraints of the labels, producers and promoters and following their own muses instead. Other than the odd favorite or two, I will happily defer to the experts who follow these genres through thick and thin for the remaining years.
I only have two to add here, and one of them I only heard just now for the first time in a decade, so listing it as a favorite would be disingenuous. Which leaves us with...
Pondus - Myrornas Frammarsch
The other is Pekka Pohjola - Visitation, and falls in the honorable mention category by my reckoning.
