The Yellowjackets for me are not only one of my all time favourites but in my opinion, they have helped to shape the piano, bass, drums and sax quartet for the modern era as good as anyone i have ever heard plus they have made some brilliant music. What's everyone's thoughts on the Yellowjackets?

I have none. If I ever heard them, it would have been late 80s, and I don't remember. grp is not a good sign. Recommend me their least soft album.

The only album I like is the first one (self titled) where Robben Ford burns it up, and IMO is Robben's best work - playing fusion, not blues!. I still listen to that from time to time. The others are all too light/adult contemporary for my tastes.

Lifecycles featuring Mike Stern was a brilliant album, that came out in 2008. I highly recommend checking that one out. The MCA years from 86 - 89 i consider to the band's golden era where they made their best music. It's worth looking into that period

Highly recommend checking out Lifecycles, it features Mike Stern as a special guest and he really rips it up with the Yellowjackets, it's a really good album and you can kind of look at it as a Mike Stern album with Yellowjackets as the backing band but there's still plenty of good material to listen to
