Next months 4Fusion Friday theme is Tone Center. Any fans of the label here? What are your top releases they had?

Next months 4Fusion Friday theme is Tone Center. Any fans of the label here? What are your top releases they had? I used to be really into the tone center albums. I liked the tribute albums arranged by Jeff Richman: A Guitar Supreme, Freeway Jam, Fusion for Miles, The Royal Dan, Visions of an Inner Mounting Apocalypse. Then there are the GHS, Landau, Greg Howe, VTT and CAB albums. Uncle Moes, Endangered Species, Jing Chi, HBC. A virtual clearing house of 00’s fusion. If I had to pick 4: Uncle Moes Guitar Supreme Landau Live VTT2

Just picking four is difficult but I would substitute any one of the GHS albums for Guitar Supreme.

I have most all of TC albums. The two Uncle Moe albums are absolutely fantastic! GHS as well. If I must pick four today. I believe I have.

I am guessing Uncle Moe's and VTT2. Nailed it. I think you should try to include at least one of the Jeff Richman arranged tribute albums. That was such a big piece of TC.

I never had any of those, for instance. In the interest of removing personal opinions, I went with the most owned/highly ranked releases on RYM. Greg Howe - Extraction is owned by more than double the amount of people than any other label release, so that's joining VTT2 and Uncle Moe's. Coryell, Coster, Smith will round it out. It's a top 5 album for TC, which somewhat surprised me. Graded much higher and owned by 4 times as many people than Guitar Supreme, for instance. Cab is probably the most overall, owned/well ranked artists on the label, but we just had Cab a couple episodes ago, so we left them out this time.

Seems a reasonable basis for narrowing it down but I am surprised at how popular the Coryell one is. It wouldn't make my top 10 TC albums.

I was surprised as well, although I wil say, the 2 recent re-spins I've done have me thinking more of it than I did back when it came out. I'm not sure Extraction jumps off the page as a top TC disc either, but that's kind of the point in me turning some of the control over to chance with the outside source. I don't want the chosen discs to just be all about my perception/taste.

Not realistically. Wooten and Chambers showed up and played, like hired hands would do for any jobber gig. Howe wrote it all, save for the Lifetime cover. They of course, brought better playing than your typical Howe album though!
