I have a few GRP cd’s. I know this label doesn’t really get the love from the jazz community as a whole. I usually pick up the cds whenever I find them. Is there a good YouTube video discussing GRP and some of the great music that they produced? Also what are some of your favorite GRP cds you own?

All I ever liked was the Elektric Band and Akoustic Band cds, and a portion of the solo albums from those guys. Namely, the Weckl stuff, the Patitucci debut, and Eric Marienthal - Crossroads.
Not sure about any videos discussing the legacy of the label. Like you said, I think it's considered a blight by most jazzers and fusers alike

Pretty much agree with George. Apart from the ones he mentions there are a few others that are OK but not great from Billy Cobham, Kevin Eubanks, Michael Brecker, Steve Khan and Yellowjackets. There is a decent article on Wiki if you are interested.

I used to have a bunch of GRP stuff back in the 80s. Some Cobham & M. Brecker albums. I mostly associate them with lighter acts like the Rippingtons.

I remember being excited to see Cobham - Warning, but it's a bit of a shiteater. Return of the Brecker Brothers had some moments, but not enough, and the follow-up was even fluffier. Kevin Eubanks - Sundance has some smokin' tunes, but all the ones after get more and more smooth.
