Naturally, you can be more specific (e.g. which saxophone or what instrument the 'Other...' is?) on your reply. Who's your favorite player?

I have to go with trumpet and I think people are going to guess that Miles Davis is my favourite player.
I like saxophone too, especially Wayne Shorter on soprano.
I really don't like the flute.

I said sax. For me, it's Bill Evans. I don't always like his tunes, but he can really play.

Ooops, accidentally voted for "other", but now that I think about it, oboe may be my choice. Unfortunately, there aren't too many great oboe parts in rock and jazz recordings.

I must admit that I'm not a huge fan of wind instruments in jazz fusion, but I love the flute in classic '70s progressive rock (Jethro Tull, Camel, Gotic and many italian prog bands). I like Joe Farrell's playing on Chick Corea albums, too. So, flute it is.
I also like the sound of Gerald Preinfalk's bass clarinet on BPM's Delete and Roll.

I like the way Carl Hupp used trumpet on his cd and Fonderia used it as well.

The question was "favorite wind instrument" anyway, and while I'm not suggesting an oboe in place of Chris Wood's sax on "Glad", for instance, just think how cool that would sound.

Clarinet. I was in a band with a clarinet/keyboard player. I loved it. Marcus Miller's bass clarinet playing is beautiful.

What about your least favorite? I cringe when I hear didgeridoo. There is just nothing cool that can be done with it. Hate bagpipes too, not that I've ever heard them turn up on a fusion record. Of the "normal" ones that at least occasionally get used, I'm not a huge fan of trombone. In a big horn section, ok, but for a soloing instrument, uggh

No love for Charlie Mariano's Nadaswaram? I had to use Google to find out what that is.
