I've listened to Oz some in the past, and respect his playing, but never really had quite enough meat for me. And that angular blues/funk thing lost my interest (Scofield did it much better), so I haven't followed his career.
I was listening to his interview on GuitarWank, which resulted in me checking out some of his more recent stuff. It seems like he's doing themed releases now. The latest a 60/70s funk tribute, and the one before that sort of pop/R&B. His playing has become even more economical, and has relegated himself even more to supporting musician. I was sort of enjoying Orange Squeezie, but more in an acid jazz vein - all groove with no virtuosity.
