What, if anything are you using to catalog and reference your collection and favorites? Going through the best of archives & my own stuff. So much music (and my less than perfect memory) that I feel the need to organize what I’m listening to. I’ve started cataloging in the Gsheet, which is nice, because there is a lot of flexibility to add columns for whatever data you want, sort & search, and that it is easily shared by a group of people. But you have to create all the album data by scratch. I noticed you guys were on rateyourmusic. I signed up there and dabbled around and added some albums. There are a few apps, like CLZ music & Discogs. You can sync with your existing file based music. I may try these out. Or maybe best to just use a deeply featured player like Roon and maximize the use of meta-tagging

Yeah, JaySee, xmiles, cone, and myself are on RYM. I find it works great as a database. Sort, search, share...everything you'd want to do. You can make lists too. And you don't have to add everything from scratch. One click to enter titles into your collection. They alphabetize for you, affix the year, etc. Then there's the added benefit of being able to check charts, ratings of others. It also tells you when an artist you like has a new album coming out. Do you have the same handle on there? I'll add you as a friend.

I just signed up for a Roon membership. I received a free 1 month Roon trial last year with a DAC I bought, so had some experience with it. So far it is absolutely brilliant. It is such a deeply implemented, well thought out piece of software that it is worth the high price. Beyond being an audiophile level music management and whole house streaming program, it is a fully customizable organization & tagging app. It pulls together my library and streaming collection into a single library that has deep sorting, referencing & export capabilities. This is really the icing on the cake for me as far as file based music goes. Unfortunately, Roon doesn't have as much metadata for the obscure fusion stuff, so I have to add a bit. But I'm adding & cleaning up my collection by year.
