Saw Billy Cobham last night in DC. Show was good but doesn't seem to have the edge as they did in the 70's& 80's. There should be a video popping up soon on Dime from the show in Pennsylvania. I think you can watch it on Youtube.

Was that the Crossroads thing? I saw a pro-shot show on Youtube about a month back, and it was pretty low energy, sadly.

Caught Mike Stern Sunday night in DC with Jeff Lorber, Jimmy Haslip and Dennis Chambers. Because we had comp seats I had to sit front center two feet from Haslip. I would have preferred not to sit so close but it was sold out. That was was first time I saw Stern with a keyboard player, and for once I don't recall him doing a ballad.
Next night we saw Oz Noy with Haslip and Chambers in Baltimore. For once it was nice not having to ride over thirty minutes to a show. It was a teaching school with about a fifty some seating theater that was sold out. Haslip told us Sunday night to show up and he would bring in chairs himself for us to sit in if he had to. Jimmy is one of the nicest guys I have met to talk with. After the show they were leaving to go play at Ronnie Scott's in London. I think they did this gig to get some of the wrinkles out of the songs. I baked Jimmy some brownies to take on the flight.

Billy Cobham is playing the Jazz Cafe in London on November 27 and 28, 2019. John Medeski of Medeski, Martin and Wood is playing on Jan 22, 2020. Also on October 30 is Forq .... a ‘Jazz fusion Supergroup’. I am hoping to persuade my son to accompany to see the Ethiopiques legend Mulatu Astke on December 17 or 18. I have been intending to post about Ethiopiques under the ‘Non Fusion Faves’ thread but in the meantime here is a taster of Mulatu Astke. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y3JU5ZMg5Y&t=205s
